1st Draft of Annotated Bibliography

          Offers an example of a military prison and the type of people found there.  Hints toward flaws in the American prison system from claims of inmate mistreatment.

This was a very informative resource that touched on almost all aspects of the prison system including history, prison types, minority and gender topics and much more.  The source also offers a very detailed resource pages that was very helpful for researching.

This is a well developed informative documentary that offers a perspective into the life of an inmate. The film also address healthcare cost for prisons and the legalities behind this issue.

This government document offers a well organized layout of statistics within the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Oak Park Heights including; reason for sentencing, length of sentence and more.

This is an informative journal article that touches on the issue of the prison system’s struggle with overcrowding while meeting the financial needs to meet the legal standards. From the increased fees for medical and psychiatric care that strain caused by the overcrowding problem.

This was a very useful article that offered a very informative understanding to the prison system in California.  The article also provided many statistics to support the information it provided.
Selman, D., & Leighton, P. (2010). In Barak G. (Ed.), Punishment for Sale. Lanham, Maryland: Rowman & Littlefeild Publishers, Inc.
This is an informative book that offers a thorough background history into the private prisons.  The book also discusses many issues with private prisons and solutions to fix them.
