Google 101

During Google 101, what did you learn that you did not know before?

I had no idea how helpful and entertaining google could be! I learned how well developed Google news is in the way advertisments don’t control what articles are posted and the variety of news sites are offered.  I also had no idea Google offered so many search options like patten, book, trends, google voice and so many more search engines.  

How has this changed your opinion about Google, or looking for resources online?

My opinion on Google has change dramatically.  I have a lot more respect for the power in research that it provides.  Google can lead you to very specific and detailed topics in the web that can be trust worthy sites when you know how to look for them.  I’ve realized how immediate information can become and how much organizational help Google offers to further even everyday tasks like the Google calendar.  Google seems endless in helping inform and organize our lives. 

How will you use the new Google tools (or online research strategies) in doing other types of research, whether for school or for “real life” situations?

Since being informed on Google I learned how to be more informed in world wide news.  Google news offers up to the second news updates from all types of news resources like alternative press sites. I found that Google offers everything you can think of.  I enjoy looking through the paten search because it is interesting to see the layout and explanation of the original ideas that are all around us.  Google has really help my organizational skill the most by using the Google calendar.   I am able to pull up my schedule for the day and month in seconds on my phone anywhere I am.  Another major advantage Google has offered me in an organizational aspect is Google voicemail. I receive my voicemails as text messages and e-mails as well as over the phone. I used to have a difficultly checking my voicemails but now it’s easier than ever.  Also, google drive offers a portable file keeper for me use.  I can place all my papers in the google drive on my laptop and go to the library computer with the same paper in the folder on any computer.
